API Spec 7K Pneumatic slip for Drilling and Workover
Pneumatic slip is a type of pneumatic operational tool to screw down the drill pipe and clamp the casing in the petroleum and natural gas drilling work. It is applicable for the rotary table for various drilling machine. The pneumatic slip is characterized by high degree of mechanical work, convenient operation, large lifting force, wide application range, safety and reliability. It is capable of reducing the labor intensity and improving the operation by a large scale. In the operation of screwing down the drill pipe, automatic silt scraping can be conducted.
Pneumatic slip is installed in the rotary table as a substitute for the core bit of the rotary table. In operation, when the control valve is turned to the side of falling, the slip body travels down along the principle cone and pushes the tubular column to furl centripetally, thereby clamping the tubular column; when the control valve is turned to the side of lifting, the slip body is loosened and travels up to the upper place, so as to make room for the tubular column and the joint loop to pass.
The pneumatic system is provided with a pressure regulator-filter, which is able to filter the compressed air and reduce the air pressure, so as to satisfy the demands of the pneumatic slip system. The compressed air filtered and adjusted is supplied into the cylinder. The manipulation and control handle is used to control the cylinder that drives the equilibrium beam up and down to push the slip to uplift and lower. When used on the sea or on the land, the drilling workers can manipulate the series of pneumatic slip to realize rapid lifting and lowering.
